Kat MDear Diary…

Promotions and Hospitality events have been pouring in thick and fast. We were all provided with smart sky-blue tracksuits and tops to wear to such events, with 'diamante stones' on the back… oooowww… All thanks to Carole Anne who we all love dearly and treasure so so much. (She made me say that! ) Kidding… On with the promos…

One of the main feature games for Sky Television's 'Hoops' was on Sunday 2nd February and was sponsored by Clyde 1. In the build-up to this game we were invited along to George Bowie's breakfast show to help promote the game and, well to give George the fright of his life with us in uniform. Arriving shortly after 8.00am we (Carole Anne, Margaret and I) were greeted by the lovely Sarah Prockter – George's producer. After getting changed and arming ourselves with our poms Sarah took us along to the studio to meet George and his side-kick sports presenter Hugh Keevans.

The 'Bowie Boy' was on top form that morning and had us all in fits of laughter throughout the entire interview. I think to some we must have came across as 'girly giggly cheerleaders' but I think anyone who has spent more than two minutes in this 'mad mans' company will agree there's not much more to do other than laugh. The man is off his head…! The 'banter' kicked off with George introducing us and generally chatting about 'how if feels to be a cheerleader' and also about the game that was to take place that Sunday. Shortly the conversation turned to George's usual funny nonsense and when he asked us 'so what do you do if an ugly burd tries out for the squad?'… we were relieved when Mags piped up… 'The only ugly one who's ever tried out was yourself George'… hee hee… Hugh was on the ball and added that George must have been wearing his wife's dress AGAIN that day…! mmm… Maybe he should invest in one of his own.

After inspecting the Clyde 1 sofa which has been autographed by hundreds of celebs, pop bands and artists we headed up to the canteen to have some breakfast before all heading off to work. Many thanks to George Bowie, Sarah Prockter and Hugh Keevans for having us along and for the hospitality you showed us. We had a very enjoyable morning.

The next promotion we attended was the 'Sense Scotland Charity Fashion Show' at Princes Square in Glasgow on 11th February. The Scottish Phoenix Mitsubishi Rocks Basketball Team were also in attendance. While the guy's strutted their stuff on the catwalk displaying various sports wear, we danced one of our pre-game routines around the front of the floor. As we had not much rehearsal time for this event we were extremely happy with the way everything came together. Even happier again as later on in the evening we were approached for bookings for future work. Another job well done!

Saturday 22nd February. We arrived at the Hilton Hotel for the 'Press Ball'. We had been invited along to perform one of our routines and to help out with various raffle events and prize draws. Initially we sold some raffles in the main bar area before getting changed and performing one of our routines to a very lively and appreciative audience.

After some refreshments we split up around the hall and sold bingo tickets and the main raffle books. All of which sold very well. Later in the evening we helped give out the main raffle prizes, some of which we were tempted to run away with – we then stayed and partied till the small hours with some of the guests. A great night was had by all and we look forward to doing similar events like this in the near future.

There will be one more diary to come before the end of the season so keep checking to find out what we have been getting up to next…

OH… and P.S… The feature game that went out on Sky Sports 'Hoops' had ME in the Intro. You saw me dancing for a whole total of four seconds! Sad I know but four seconds is a long time when you're on camera. Ahhhhhhhh… I'll need to change my circle of friends!
