Jet-lag!Our room was very comfortable, with massive big beds, which Katrina Foran took great pleasure in rolling over. She actually thumped down on mine one day and I nearly bounced off the ceiling…!! We had a giant TV, mini-bar, dressing area, bathroom with… wait for it… a window in the shower so you can look out and watch TV…! These Americans are crazy, what are they scared they're gonna miss one of the back-to-back episodes of Frasier that were on constantly…?! Our room cleaner was called Dora. Dora took great pleasure in banging on our door every morning about quarter to eight…! Dora was close to getting a thumping herself. She must have had a panic attack one day as her 'tip envelope' had been moved so she replaced it with another. What she didn't know was that 'we' moved it as we were putting money in it daily for her…! Calm it Calm it wumin…!! Anyway we sussed that if we put the 'privacy' tag on the door she wouldn't chap us up. Dora was replaced however, with 'spa boy' as I called him – one morning around ten past seven I was wakened with such a fright as the telephone buzzed right next to my ear, I grabbed it and tried to say hello but I think my tongue was still stuck to the roof of my mouth. This guy on the other end of the line joyfully sang down the phone "dis this da spa?" !!!!!! "What?" I replied, only just remembering where I actually was… "dis this da spa?" he repeatedly so full of happiness and joyfulness… "No this is a hotel room I said…"… "my apologies" and down went the phone…!! Spa boy called me three times and after I screamed like a mad woman possessed the third morning, he didn't call back…!!! gggrrrr…!!

Hard work, this ProDance course! So for the first few days, as well as dealing with our jet lag we basically lounged at the pool. It was such a gorgeous pool with palm trees, waterfalls and mini bars, very picturesque… I know, I know, all the way to Vegas and lay at the pool, we were honestly so tired and anyway were saving our last few days for the sights after our dance workshop. We ate at Toscanos mostly for the first few days, a diner like the one in the film 'Grease' and the friendly checkout girl had our order typed in her till before we even told her… "cheese and onion pizza and fries again…"… she'd say as she tapped away on her till pad,…"…you guys must like this eh…!…"… Not really doll, it was alright, just that any time I asked for anything else without meat on it I got strange looks! Try and order a cheese salad sandwich if you ever go to America, they look at you as if you've just stole their tenth serving of buffet…! Hey, the Americans can certainly put it away eh…! Talk about getting your money's worth. It was 10 in the morning and they were eating things like steak, pizza, curry, crab-sticks, they even had sushi…! for goodness sake…! Hey, don't get me wrong I look as if I could do with a good feed myself but that's not self-inflicted…!

The Dance Camp Day One

The first morning of our dance camp. We were all a bit nervous. We selected our white and lemon outfit to wear first and made our way down stairs to ProDance.

With the Orlando Magic DancersThe main seminar room was buzzing with excitement, girls squealing as they greeted each other remembering them from previous dance camps, everyone was in their team colours or logos and we were glad we made the effort to buy some matching 'workout' gear. Camera crews were walking around the room randomly filming groups of girls and photographers were flashing cameras in your face. As the seminar got under way, Rosyln (founder of ProDance) welcomed everyone and thank-ed them for coming along. One by one she introduced every dance squad who had come along from as far away as the Amsterdam Admirals, ourselves from Scot-land off course and all the other squads from America including the likes of the Dallas Cowboys and Orlando Magic. Each squad stood up as they were introduced gave a wave to a lively cheer and sat back down. My face was scarlet…! It was so cheesy, but kinda nice too.

Next came our 14 choreographers, all professionals in their own right and most had worked with stars including Janet Jackson (my hero), Justin Timberlake, Pink and Britney Spears to name but a few. All the choreographers introduced themselves and showed a preview of what they would be teaching for their first routine. They were all so funky and made their routines look easy. As the choreographers finished their talk and demonstration there was a hustle around the hall as everyone frantically flicked through the run-down lists of where and who they were going to. Everyone generally splits up from their own dance squads at this point as it means you'd have more choices of routines.
