Rookie Lynne Haig, was one of the lucky dancers to represent the squad at this event and here’s what she had to say about the trip:

I was really excited to hear I was going to the BBL Finals in Newcastle. This would be my first trip away with the Rockettes and I knew I was in for an adventure!

We all met early on Sunday morning and I travelled down in Carole Anne's car. Thankfully Linzi knew how to work a map and after doing a few circles in the area and ignoring a couple of dodgy signposts (telling us to go the opposite way) we managed to get to the Metroradio Arena in Newcastle.

We heard our first "why aye mate" from a nice wee car park attendant and I couldn't wait to hear more from the Geordies. After arriving in the arena, we made ourselves at home in a massive room filled with chairs and of course the odd mirror. It was great because it was big enough for us to run through our routines.

Before lunch, the Plymouth Raiders mascot, Foxy paid us a visit and gave us a lovely box of chocolates! Thanx Foxy!!

After scoffing the chocolates we then put our lunch pass to good use (baked potatoes, chicken and pasta!) – yummy! Once our lunch had settled, it was soon time to get into our lovely new white BBL dresses! They were so nice and I couldn't wait for the Final to begin.

We soon made our way down to the arena and lined up on court waiting for the game to start. However, Charlie was unfortunately picked up by Foxy and flung into a little basket on wheels!! Foxy then proceeded to push the basket around the court (at some speed!) before letting it go, sending Charlie smack bang into an advertisement board and sound system! The rest of us just stood in shock! Carole Anne went to rescue her and pulled her back on her feet!

After realising what happened and knowing Charlie was OK, the extreme laughter kicked in! The game began and the Rockettes cheered on both teams, Newcastle Eagles and Plymouth Raiders. It was an exciting match and I enjoyed performing all the routines in between. However, aswell as keeping an eye on Foxy (making sure you looked behind before stepping back) there was also a camera man to hide from! Aaaagghh!

After many routines and cans of Red Bull later, it was time to head back home. The journey home was again entertaining! If it wasn't guessing the titles and singers of songs (I was rubbish at that game!), it was Carol's random comments including "so what about those baked potatoes?"

I had a great time at the Finals and enjoyed the new experience, can't wait for another!!

See you soon,

Lots of love,

Lynne xxx
