Glasgow's Bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games
Glasgow is a sports-mad city. Be it football or rugby, netball or basketball, Glaswegians love to compete and expect to win. It was with this in mind that the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games bid team organised the latest 'Back the Bid' day in Buchanan Street at the end of June.

Using the World Cup as inspiration, they set out to find out just who was Glasgow's 'keepie-uppie' champion. The current Scottish record holder, Graham Lightbody, was on hand to offer some tips and the Rockettes were always available to coax people into taking part.

It was a hugely successful day. The sun shone, the girls performed to their usual high standard and Glaswegians turned out in their droves to show off their football skills. In the end no-one came close to breaking Graham's record (43,000 is a lot of keepie-uppies!) but they did uncover some great Glasgow talent.

"Despite being the stars of the show, the Rockettes didn't take part in the keepie uppie competition. Next time, girls?" Rob, Head of PR, Glasgow 2014.
