The Rockettes vamping it up at the
2010 Anthony Nolan Scottish Daisy Ball
|
The Scottish Rockettes were invited to perform at this year's Anthony Nolan Daisy Ball held at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow. The Anthony Nolan Trust is the most successful stem cell register in the UK and has saved thousands of lives by matching the right donors to people in need of a stem cell, bone marrow or cord blood transplant. The Rockettes have supported the charity for several years now and were excited to be involved again this year.
After wowing last year's crowd with our Thriller routine, we knew we had to come back with something bigger and better… so all eyes turned back to Gemma to create a new concept. What with all the hysteria surrounding Twilight and TV programmes such as Vampire Diaries, she decided there was only one way to go… a vampire routine! Excited by the proposal, the Rockettes immediately set to work on this new routine. Not only did this involve tackling new dance styles such as lyrical and contemporary jazz, but our acting skills were also put to the test.
Set in a dark, eerie wood, a young girl finds herself surrounded by hungry vampires. After playing with their food, the vampires go in for the bite, miraculously transforming the innocent girl into one of the pack!
Transforming 10 glamorous cheerleaders into scary vampires was so much fun!
Corsets and Collars: Check!
Fake blood: Check!
Fangs: Check!
From the moment we stepped on the dance floor to the dramatic ending, we had our audience completely captivated. They loved the different elements to the routine and watching the story unfold. The organisers were very pleased, saying "This was the most exciting Rockettes routine yet, you just get better every year!" We had so much fun choreographing and performing our vampire dance and look forward to showcasing our next themed routine… Watch Out!
Lots of Love,
