The Metroradio Arena in Newcastle was treated to a thrilling BBL event on Sunday March 4th 2007. The Plymouth Raiders notched up their first ever BBL crown with a pulsating 74-65 BBL Trophy Final win over the holders, the hometown Newcastle Eagles. Big Man Carlton Aaron proved the difference between the two sides racking up a game-high 25 points in an unstoppable performance in the paint.
Raiders led for much of the encounter but had to withstand a nail-biting fourth-quarter resurgence by the Eagles who posted an 11-2 burst to trim the lead to just 6 points at 56-62. However, much to the delight of the vocal travelling support, the south-coast outfit held on for the win.
There was no doubt about it – this was a fantastic event, with both teams battling it out for the title. Thousands of fans enjoyed the day that was jam-packed full of excellent entertainment including the UK's top Pro-Sports Dance Team the Rockettes!
