CHAS - Children's Hospice Association Scotland
The first West of Scotland Rocking Horse Ball was held on Saturday 30 September 2006 at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow to celebrate the first birthday of Robin House children's hospice.

The Rockettes had attended the Robin House birthday celebrations earlier this year so having first hand experience of the amazing support this charity provides, we were delighted when invited to this event to help raise money for such a worthy cause.

The night was hosted by TV celebrity Lorraine Kelly and along with the assistance of the Rockettes the charity raised over £30,000 pounds. The Rockettes were proud to present a cheque with the proceeds raised from the sale of our very popular charity swimwear calendar.

The Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) was founded in 1992 by a small group of parents and professionals who understood the needs of children with life limiting conditions and their families. Their aim was to provide hospice services in Scotland to children and their families in line with need and demand.

In 1993 with the support of the Scottish Office, CHAS embarked on a programme of public, corporate and professional awareness raising to secure the funds to create Scotland's first children's hospice, Rachel House, Scotland's first children's hospice opened in 1996.

Robin House is Scotland's second children's hospice. The success and increasing demands on Rachel House made it necessary for Scotland to have a second children's hospice. It has been built in the National Park at Loch Lomond. It was completed in Summer 2005 and opened to children and their families in August 2005.

"The highlight of the night for the 500 people attending was a performance by the Scottish Rockettes who added more glamour and sparkle than could ever have been imagined. As well as dancing their socks off the girls kindly offered much needed support by collecting money during the raffle and games and ensuring the night ran without a hitch. A staggering £31,000 was raised on the night and this can only be attributed to all those who helped, working together in aid of the children and their families who use Rachel and Robin Children's Hospices as well as the At Home service in Inverness." – Gail, CHAS Rocking Horse Ball organizer.
