Celebrating yet another successful year, the Crimestoppers Scotland Annual Fundraising Dinner is always a glittering occasion. This year, with an ethnic theme and the emphasis on integration, the 2007 dinner highlighted the fabulous cultural mix which Scotland is composed of.
Sponsored by Connelly's Security Ltd, the 'One' Award was presented to the multicultural writing and drama group: Definitely Inspired Arts. A Glasgow-based, multicultural writing and drama group they involve performers from many different ethnic backgrounds. The prize of a magnificent trophy and £5,000 cash will allow them to develop further projects to help unite talented individuals and appreciative audiences of various cultures.
It was indeed an all-singing all-dancing occasion: the guests enjoyed the entertainment provided by the colourful young dancers of the Glasgow Oriental Dancing Association, and the versatile Pan African Arts ensemble aided by the Neilston Pipe Band.
However, appearing by special request, the Rockettes added that magical dash of sparkle and energy to the mix. How can they rehearse several times a week, hold down jobs and still find the energy to turn out for such breathtaking performances? Their diary is fuller than ever and everyone from Crimestoppers Scotland was delighted that they could be part of the celebrations. Thanks girls!!
The charity Crimestoppers Scotland operates the anonymous call service for reporting information about crimes. Call 0800 555 111 and your personal details will not be asked for. The call will not be taped and it cannot be traced as the special phone system deletes all call details.
Crimestoppers Scotland has had some fantastic results because callers know they can ring anonymously. The Drug Dealers Don't Care campaigns continue to roll out, taking more than a hundred dealers off the streets of Scotland each time. The call centre takes calls about ALL types of crimes and is open 24 hours.
