We all know us Rockette girls love our clothes, makeup, hair and beauty products. So when the opportunity came to glam up and strut our stuff down the catwalk as part of the Paisley Piazza Fashion Day we dropped our poms and grabbed it with both hands!
A few nights before the show we were introduced to our very own Scottish Gok Wan, stylist Chris Hunt. Fashion and beauty were the subject of the evening as us girls talked handbags and all that glitters while each of us were fitted into our carefully chosen outfits, cries of "fabulous darling" being heard every few minutes from Chris as another fantastic outfit would emerge from the changing room. With all the pieces being from stores within the centre us girls could not believe some of the price tags. Carrie already had a top and harem trouser combo picked out as her weekend outfit!
Just when we thought we couldn't be pampered anymore, we were introduced to the talented team of hairdressers from the Kenneth Edwards salon, each allocated a hair stylist for the day and even offered a free Australian gold spray tan!
So bronzed and raring to go we arrived at the Piazza Centre to be preened and pampered for the day ahead. Big hair was the theme of the day, which couldn't have pleased our Claire more! Our team of gorgeous hairdressers looked noticeably taller than the previous night and we were informed that after we had arrived at our fitting in our usual attire (heels and lipgloss) they had decided not to be left in the dark and to also follow suit for the show! So hair done, makeup was our next stop, and not that my fellow Rockettes ever look anything less than gorgeous but the makeup done by freelance girls smujj had them looking especially stunning for the show.
And so the show kicked off with our lovely Carole Anne in daywear, Deone, and Judi calmly waited to follow (pros at the catwalk) as myself and Claire shook off our last-minute nerves by practising our walks in the mirror behind, while Claire also practised blowing kisses and winking which may not have went down well on a Milan catwalk but our crowd loved it! Office wear, eveningwear, casual and coats followed… all done with usual Rockettes poise and flair. Chris looked on pleased, cheering us on and dancing along to Alexandra Burke, everyone having a ball.
All in all thanks to the fantastic team who put it all together in aid of the St. Vincent's Hospice we had an amazing time, and after raiding the stores to copy our outfits also now have even more clothes in our already overflowing wardrobes!
