Sleigh Bells Ring at The Piazza
Sleigh bells were ringing on Saturday 17th November as Santa arrived in style at The Piazza Shopping Centre Paisley's annual Reindeer Parade, which, despite the dreary day, was the busiest parade to date!
The parade kicked off in County Square at 10:30 am and was supported by The Scottish Rockettes, Paisley Pipe Band, PACE Theatre Company, Paisley Grenville Sea Cade Core Unit 264 and the Lorna Welsh Dance Troupe. Thankfully, those thronging the streets remained dry as the rain held off long enough for Santa to reach The Piazza without having to reach for his umbrella!
Following the procession, the action moved inside The Piazza Shopping Centre with queues to visit Santa in his Cosmic Grotto nearly reaching the door! Luckily, Santa's elves were on hand to help, and The Scottish Rockettes kept the crowd entertained by performing two high-impact dance routines and later distributing The Piazza's Focus Magazine to waiting Grotto visitors. A special Christmas edition, this season's Focus Magazine features money off coupons for The Carphone Warehouse and Ethel Austin, as well as great gift ideas for under £10 and fabulous festive fashion.

This year, Santa's Grotto has an 'Out of This World' theme and is open right up until Christmas Eve so that kids can make sure that Santa knows what they want for Christmas and, with a huge selection of gifts also available at The Piazza for excellent prices, Christmas won't have to cost Mums and Dads the earth, either. And, because time is always of the essence during the festive season, The Piazza will be opening later every Thursday in December especially for those last minute purchases!
The day's entertainment didn't just end at The Piazza, however. After the parade and Scottish Rockettes performance, PACE performed a Christmas sketch that really wowed the crowd to kick off the action on the Clyde 1 stage in Paisley town centre. Also appearing for the Switch On later on in the day were X Factor favourites the MacDonald Brothers and Scottish Duo Hue and Cry.
Piazza Shopping Centre Manager Maureen Hill commented:
"The whole day was fantastic and it was lovely to see all the smiling faces for Santa! As the opening of Paisley's only Santa’s Grotto it was really important to make sure it was a great family day out, and the parade was a great start to the day. Of course, it wouldn't be the Piazza Parade without everyone who took part, and I'd like to thank everyone for making the day such a success!"
Santa's Grotto is open until December 24th
Opening Hours:
Wednesday Friday 1pm 6pm
Saturday 10am 6pm
