Just looking at the Message Board and I was shocked by the suggestion that Nicole and I 'paid' Joe to say we should be in the 05/06 squad! What an outrage, he obviously said it coz of our fab dancing ability and bubbly personality HaHa!!!!!

Hi Gemma and Nikki. You need to be at least 18 to be in the Scottish Rockettes.
We don't have a junior squad but we hold Dance Workshops a couple of times each year where you can come and learn a dance routine and then perform it on court during a Scottish Rocks basketball game!
You can find out more about the last Workshop here, and once we've set a date for the next one we'll announce it on the website. Take care, Iain.

Of course I remember you toots! It's really good to hear from you. So go on shock me… tell me what age you are now? Time flies eh – it doesn't feel like that long since I was still dancing with you!
So let me think… it's the end of May so you guys must have just had the annual dancing show, am I right?? If I hadn't been on holiday (just back yesterday) I would have popped along to see everyone!
So are you still competing? And winning lots of medals?? I will try and pop into class and see you guys very soon – i promise – Monday night eh?
You should keep an eye on our website as we do regular dance camps where you get the opportunity to dance on court with the Rockettes during a basketball game. Hopefully I will see you at the next one.
Say 'Hi' to Mrs Todd for me and tell her I will be along to visit shortly.

I am just wondering if Clayr was dancing at the BBL championships… I was one of the players from Sheffield in the EBL final and i am trying to remember who the gorgeous girl on the end closest to our team was when we were getting our trophies. Also Claire Nimmo was the friendliest chatting to us backstage while we were warming up so HI to you and all the girls. It was an absolute pleasure to see you girls perform. i'm up in Edinburgh training with the Scottish national team on the 13th and 14th of May. Would be great to catch up. xxxxx

I wonder if you all remember at the BBL Cup Final you all went out on Birmingham's Broad Street and saw a random guy at a restaurant (about 6ft6?!?!) chat to you with his mobile through the window?? with his two mates… THAT WAS ME!! I was working for my mate Tom who works at the BBL with Andy Webb. Just wanted to say hi and that you all were absolutely fantastic on the Sunday of the Final :D
Can't wait to see you all perform again at the next BBL event, hopefully Andy will remember the hard work I put in and ask me to work for him again!!

You put on a great show on Sunday – Foxy was brilliant as well.
It's a shame you were delayed on the trip down on Saturday, but at least that meant you could cheer on the Rocks with the rest of us and didn't have to remain non-biased ;-)
The High Fliers (is that what they are called?) put on a good show in your absence.
A great weekend with a great atmosphere at the NIA.

hiya. i used to dance when i was six and i went to competitons and stuff but i didn't like my teacher and left. now i go to another disco dancing class and have been there for 3 years now. i really like my dance teacher but she doesn't take us to competitons. i really want to go cause i love dancing and would really love to be a professional. can u help me? xxxxx

Hi Shelley, I run a dance school in the east of Glasgow where I teach disco, rock 'n' roll, hip-hop etc. The kids all compete at competitons regularly. Maybe if you asked your dance teacher if she would take your school to competitions she would consider it. There are many dance schools across Glasgow who teach disco and take their kids to compete so depending on what area you live in, there will be lots to choose from. Maybe you should speak to your teacher first. If you want a list of schools in your area, let me know and I'll foward on a list to you. Take care, Kat x

Hi Joe, sorry to hear you won't be able to make it to the Finals Weekend. I'm not able to go either as I can't afford it but the girls will be there supporting the Rocks against Chester and they'll be performing on-court during the Final on Sunday. Fingers crossed the Rocks will be in it and manage their second championship in three years. Then all we need is to get the same guys back next season to defend their title! Speak soon, Iain.

Hi Andrew, The Rocks beat the London Towers last night in the Playoff ¼ Finals which means that they will be going to Birmingham at the end of the month for the Semi's and hopefully the Final. There will be a supporter's bus going down, I'll get details and post them as soon as I know. Iain.

Hi Stephanie, we don't have a junior squad but we'll have another Dance Workshop at the start of next season so you can learn a routine and perform it on court with the Rockettes.
We also teach cheerleading in a number of schools in Glasgow so you can ask your teacher to contact us and maybe we can take a class in your school!

Got to say congratulations to all the girls and Rockettes for your fantastic displays on Sunday – you all did a great job. Oh, and commenting on Thursday night's game I'm sure the Rockettes had more fans in the Arena than the Rocks that night! – yous were loving it hehe. Where was Clyde Valley High? Hi girls finally got your calendar couple days ago. Very well done, excellent quality, i have to say it's a lot better than looking at david beckham ones all day. I'm coming up on Sunday verses Plymouth travelling with the team after they play in Newcastle on Saturday. No flying for us, we're doing it all by coach – you'll be able to recognise us all with the bleary eyes!

Hi Chelsea, the youngest person we've had at a Workshop in the past has been six but there aren't really any age limits. The main thing is that you want to learn from and perform with the Rockettes and have a great time! Iain.

I heard yesterday on the radio that on the 3 of April that you are holding like a cheer camp at 1pm, then the kids will perform during the match and they will also get tickets to see the match. I did not pick up how much that it would cost and it said that the application would be on your website just to print and send. I could not find it but my problem is I do not have a printer. I am writing on behalf of my daughter Amie who got her picture taken with you at the Toryglen multi-culture day. She was wearing her claymore mini-more t-shirt and had her pom poms. Amie would enjoy doing this as she really enjoyed performing at the claymore matches in front of the fans. So could you please advise me in this? Hope to hear from you soon

You can get a copy of the Application Form from the Dance Workshop page. You need to download it and fill it in and then return it to us. We can then put you into the most suitable group and send you your ticket for the game.
If you're not able to print the form just give the office a call on the number at the bottom of the page and they'll post one out to you.

Hi Ash. The Dance Workshop costs £12. For that you get taught a routine by the Rockettes which you will perform during the game that evening. The cost also includes your ticket to the game.

Our pre-game is to a remix of Usher's track 'Yeah'… but as you probably noticed it's about double the speed of the original… I hope that puts your mind at rest – there is nothing worse than having a song in your head but not knowing the title eh :-)

We look forward to seeing you at Breahead – are you coming to the Dance Workshop or just to one of the games?
My advice for competition is… not to get too nervous, try and remember all the things your coach has told you and most importantly smile and enjoy yourself – there is nothing worse than a unhappy looking cheerleader so practise that big cheesy smile! I find singing along to the music during a routine helps me stay calm and looks like I am having fun :-)
And you are a disco dancer too – quite a few girls on the squad were disco dancers when they were younger too! We do all stlyes of dance including jazz, disco and hip-hop – a wee bit of everything!

My advice for you is to call Gillian Sinclair at Glasgow City Council. She is the Basketball Development Officer for Glasgow. She can give you information on all the clubs but more specifically, the ones in your area. Her number is 0141 287 5630.

Corby you say, there are lots of ex-Scots down there eh? As you have probably seen from my Bio's page I was a competitive Highland Dancer when I was younger… and I used to dance at the Highland Games down in Corby during the summer :-) I always had a really good day – it's a friendly wee town!

Hi Gina,
That's great that your school has started it's own cheerleading squad eh – bet you guys must be excited? Maybe some of your team will be Rockettes in the future :-)
I know what you mean it's hard work making up routines eh? My only advice would be to keep it simple and have lots of strong arm movements – avoid making it too complicated or trying steps that are too difficult for your age as it will just end up looking untidy.
Going to watch other squads would help you and your team – but be aware that, like the Rockettes, most squads will copyright their routines so others can't use their steps/ideas.
If you are still struggling maybe you should speak to your teacher. Let her know that the Rockettes offer dance/cheer coaching to schools – maybe a few classes from us would get you guys get started! She can contact me on coaching@scottishrockettes.com or through the Rocks office on 0141 886 2383.
Maybe coming to watch the Rockettes at Braehead would be a good team bonding activity eh – mention it to your teacher. If you let me know your school name and address then I can send you out some discount vouchers for your squad and class-mates.

Hi Gogo. The next game is on Sunday! Not Saturday.
If you are coming then you should be there for about 4:30 as the Rockettes do their pre-game routine at around 4:50. Come down to courtside after the game and say 'hi' and we'll get a photo of the girls with you. Iain.

I saw you yesterday at the bbl cup final in the nia birmingham. the basketball was brilliant, and the and1 street ball was fantastic, but… I was just as impressed by you.

The Rockettes would like to say a massive thank you to all the Rocks fans that travelled down to Birmingham for the Cup Final – your support was really appreciated! I'm sure all the girls will agree that the welcome we received as we ran out on court was overwhelming and made our night!
As you may know the Rockettes had to remain impartial throughout the match and therefore couldn't cheer on the Rocks like normal – but you guys stepped up and did a fantastic job! You are by far the best fans in the whole league!

orite troops, sadly, i missed the game on sunday, my co-pilot geebo was away skiing (he's a rich ###) so i had no way of getting there and to the gig my band was playing in time.
due to the lateness of the calendar i was forced to sell-out and buy a lucy pinder calendar. mind u, since i have two flat-mates, we generally have more than one calendar in the flat anyhoos.
trying to scam the day off work on sunday for the game so fingers crossed geebos back from siberia or wherever he is…

Thanks for writing in… did you enjoy the game on Sunday? It was just a pity we didn't get that last basket in eh?
The Rockettes teach cheerleading classes in schools throughout Glasgow and Lanarkshire – you should mention it to your teacher and maybe she could orgainse a wee class for you and your classmates. If not then we do dance workshops throughout the season so keep an eye on the website!

Thanks girls for making one Terrence Durham perform very well from the free throw line yesterday. He managed 7 from 10 even though you did your best to put him off, he's normally like Shaq from the line. We're going to get him one of the calendars and pin it on the basket stanchion to help him in other games…
Any chance you all coming down to Plymouth for the return games? You knock spots off our cheerleaders.

How are you my wee chickadee? Sounds like you are busy practising for your show?
Well we have been busy shooting our new calendar… it's hard work trying to look good! We started applying our fake tan 3 days before the shoot and we were all up at 6am on Saturday to get our hair, nails and make up done!!
But now it's all over I need to start my Christmas shopping – time to hit those shops and 'shop til I drop' eh? arrggghhhhh!

Hi. I'm a Newcastle Eagles fan and travel to your place every time the Eagles play. I know the majority of our fans chant "off", once the players are coming back onto the court, but it is nothing personal, just a bit of banter.
We did the same with "Pulse" down in Essex 2 years ago and they loved the attention. I hope you will understand that it is in good nature and sportsman-ship that we do these things we do.

You're right, we wouldn't be able to get poms for you by Saturday since they have to come from the U.S. and wouldn't arrive in time. Your best bet would be to contact some of the UK-based companies listed on the BCA website. Their Supplier's Guide is at: www.cheerleading.org.uk/diry/where6.htm

hiya every1
i loved the dance workshop as usual but i was really nervous before we went on to dance lol i was pure shakin and i had butterflies in my stomach. it was prob because alana kept goin over her dance and panicing n everything.
kat f, i loved that dance it was really good, fast but good. all thanx to u and how much i love u i was in agony and i mean agony on monday mornin. my belly muscles, back n top of legs were killing me. that must of been the hardest i ever worked. i also have a crackin giant bruise on my knee which is swollen because me doin the splits all the time lol. but know i'm better. not back to normal but better. can't wait till the next one.

Well, I took your sweeties to training last night – but again we were working so hard that we didn't get a chance to eat them. So I thought I would leave them in the good hands of my vice-captain Katrina to look after.
Unfortunately this was a bit of a mistake – I have just received the following e-mail from Katrina…
"Well, know how they sweets that I was put in charge of………?
"Well, the day……… I was kinda hungry, 'bout an hour ago to be precise……… and well a kinda heard the bag of Haribo's shouting on me from the car……… honest, even ask Myra, it was dead loud……… so I had to go and get them……… and well, I think there's about two cola bottles left and wane eh the wee fried eggs……… BUT Myra ate most of them……… she was like a mad wumin starved…!!
"If it's any consolation I feel really sick now and my tummy's hurting…!!"

I was on holiday in Scotland at the end of September and I saw the Rockettes accidentally as they were promoting a radio station at Loch Lomond. All three were stunning. Katrina Foran was so radiant – it was a pleasure to see such sparkling youthfulness and a face of gentle loveliness.

Every time I looked over at you in that routine I just laughed! …and… I bet you guys have used the whole 'socks on the arms' idea eh!!?? …yes you have…!! We'll actually be using the 'sock idea' to keep warm, it's freezing here…!
It's so nice to hear from you and thanks so much for posting a message on our message board. Sounds like you guys are doing great in Montreal, I'll keep my fingers crossed you make the finals…!
We only had our second home game last Sunday and the next one is this Sunday 17th. The team's doing not too good just now but I'm sure they'll pick up their pace in the next few weeks – then we'll start kickin a$$…!!

Hi Joe, the schedule for next season's games hasn't been announced yet but keep an eye on the Scottish Rocks and BBL sites for fixtures later in the summer. First game should be early in October. Iain.

Hi Joe, thanks for the message.
I'm not feeling any better but at least I'm out of hospital! Updates to the site will be a bit slow for a few weeks but keep an eye out for some new pages on the Events section soon. New Bios pages should be done for the middle of next month.

Due to a (hopefully) short stay in hospital to sort out my back there will be no updates to the website for the time being. Please continue to submit messages in the meantime however and I'll put them on when I get out.
Updates to the Events and Tryouts sections will be added when I return and there will be full details and photos of the girls who make up the 2004/2005 Scottish Rockettes Elite Dance Squad as well.

Hey wee girlies!!!! Long time no see… Been checkin u guys out on ur website and u all look fab!!!! Not been in touch as been here and away loads but I'm havin a fundraising night on Thu (a bit last minute) as I just got accepted into the London Academy Of Musical Theatre – I'm pure buzzin oot ma heed… hee hee and was just wonderin if any of u fancy comin even jus for a wee drinkypoo and to catch up???… It's Hawaian theme so if u do feel free to get ur grass skirts on.
