Hi girls,
Just wanted to leave a message before I hand over my uniform on Sunday, I'm so upset about it :-(!!!!
As you know I'll be travelling around the world for a year so I just wanted to say Thank You to the whole squad for my first season, I've made a great bunch of friends. The biggest Thank You has to go to my friend Carole Anne who believed in me from the beginning of the season and made me believe in myself again. I've had a Brilliant time. I've gained loads of great friends from the squad and will continue to check the website throughout my travels to see how you all are.
Right time to go now before I get upset. See ya all on Sunday, good luck to everyone at tryouts. I'll try and keep you all calm.

Just a wee message to say thank you to all the girls and all the fans over the last two years!
Just to let you all know I'm not trying out this year due to work commitments but I wish you girls all the luck in the world for tryouts – I'm sure you will all be fine!
Thanks to all my friends and to Carole Anne for all her help and hard work! A special thanks to Joe and the guys and in particular wee Daniel my bestest wee mate, I'll be at the games this year so keep me a seat wee man!! Good to hear that you are really looking forward to the tryouts, you know you have our support! You are a fan favourite… Who would little Xander have as his number 1 cheerleader if you weren't trying out.

Thanks Kat M & Claire for replying to my e-mail. I went to Margaret McCauley and Bonnie Barr's dance schools, i don't know if i'm better going to these tryouts this year or wait to next year when i can prepare to build my fitness back up, what would you recommend?

Is Margaret McCauley related to Mhari McCauley? I know Mhari well.
Also I have judged at a few of Bonnie and Tony Curly's comps, I know Bonnie too.
It's really up to yourself whether you come this season to try out or not. Since you're asking, I really think you should give it a try.
As I said before, some of the other girls who have made the main squad have been out of dancing for while before auditioning. It's about how hard you push yourself. What's the worst that can happen? So if you don't make it this time there's always next time and you'll then at least know what you are in for. Good thing is you at least have a week to go away and practice, practice, practice before coming back the following Sunday to perform in front of the judges.
So, get yer dancing shoes on and start stretching from now till tryouts, you'll suprise yourself what you can achieve if you really want to.

Oh and p.s. just in case anyone is nervous about coming to try out, it's the funniest day ever, ok so a lot of hard work, but everyone really helps each other out. It's like a massive dance class broken down and taught really clearly.!! nae torra a baw..!

I am really interested in joining the Scottish Rockettes. I have been out of dancing for few years but I was a championship disco dancer before I left and also trained in all other dances, but I now have a 2-year-old – will this effect my chances of being chosen?

Hi Laura,
That's great you are thinking of coming to tryouts and let's hear it for the disco dancers.! I used to compete myself, before I started teaching. A few of the girls have disco backgrounds.
You should defo come along. I'm sure you will do great and it's like riding a bike. Once you get back into it there's no stopping you.
Also re you having a baby, Laura Geddes who was on our squad two seasons ago also has a baby boy and she is coming back to audition this season too – so let's hear it for the 'mamas'.!

The cheerleaders were brill at the Strathclyde Park thing and I'd like 2 say thanks for the game of basketball and the brill dancing.

Hi Sheryl,
Chances are there might be people from the same area that you can get a lift from but don't rely on it – at the very least make sure that you are able to get a bus or train to training and the games before you try out next year just in case.
As long as your tattoos aren't too big then that shouldn't be a problem. Some of the girls in the current squad have tattoos but they are either quite small or covered by their uniforms.

Shout out to you all, though esp. Chocolate E'Clayr (with a y), as she doesn't seem to get many messages individually =(, Miss June '05 deserves more coverage!!

Now, I know all of you are probably just getting in from a night out in Brummy right now… don't blame you by the way.
I'm just getting in from one in Sheffield now, having got back from the NIA tonight.
Just wanted to comment that it was good to see you all playing the part of Rocks supporters, rather than neutral cheerleaders that we're used to seeing on Final 4 Saturday – from my view from Mansfield Express side of the court, could see that you were having plenty of fun.
As such, as I write this now, knowing I'm headed back to the NIA early this morning, good luck to you as a part the Rocks team, and further as the Rockettes for trying to curb your enthusiasm as a biased group of followers in the Final on Sunday.
Can't leave without saying that I hope you all raise plenty over the weekend for FranksLastWish, which is such a great cause, and naturally as a 'ball fan I was only happy to drop some money in (think it was Linzi and Carrie that were there at the time!).
Anyway, hope we'll get to see you on the floor on Sunday.

Can't believe that's all the home games finished – how time flies when you are having fun eh? Well once again I have had a fantastic time and there are a few people I have to thank for that.
Firstly I would like thank my squad. The girls always give me 110% to ensure we stay the UK's top Pro-Sports Dance Team. I do know that this has been a difficult year for the squad, what with all the injuries. So I'd like to say well done for sticking together and always giving a spectacular performance!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their support throughout the season – from the fantastic training facilities offered at JJB Fitness club at the Fort, our daily supply of mineral water from Acqua Suio and last but by no means least our title sponsors Phoenix Honda and the Daily Record – your support is really appreciated.
Finally a big thanks to you the fans, without you we wouldn't be here! Thanks for your messages of support on the website and all your efforts on game day – it really makes all the hard work worthwhile! Maybe see some of you in Birmingham?? Keep an eye on the Rocks' website for details of the supporter's buses – we will be there to cheer on the team but we need all the help we can get, so come on book yourself a ticket – you know you want to!!

i think clayr doolan is an amazing dancer with an excellent smile. i see her every week at studio and she makes my day. she's such a lovely girl and if she is ever single again i would love to take her on a date.

Disappointed by Santa
Despite being a good boy all year I was left disappointed this Christmas by Santa Claus

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the message. The last event I photographed for the Rockettes was the Dance Workshop at the start of the month. Since then I have only been taking pictures for the Rocks – if you'd been at any games recently you'd have noticed that! lol
I'll be continuing to update the website over the holidays and hopefully over the next couple of days I'll be able to add a gallery of game photos before I leave.

Hey Hugo (or should I call you monkey boy?), you'll be glad to hear I was eventually found dumped on the tarmac at Heathrow and have now been returned safely to the other girls who were missing me greatly.
You can't blame Soccer AM – CA and Kat demanded to be flown business class so the couldn't afford tickets for us all!!!

hi, normally i don't agree with cheerleaders flashing flesh. however, you girls can all get away with it cos you're over 18. But, it boils me, as a cheerleader, to see kids as young as 10 wearing less than you guys. also, you still look SMART!

Hi Abigail,
Thanks for writing to us. I think most junior squads stick to the traditional cheerleading uniforms like they wear in the cheerleading film 'Bring It On' which are really smart. Your right professional cheerleaders' outfits are slightly more glamorous with more gems and glitter – that's why dancers auditioning for the Rockettes have to be at least 18 years old. I'm glad you like our uniforms though.

Of course the girls understand basketball… having watched so many games it would be impossible not to!
When the girls attend the Twlight Basketball events with the team the girls even join in the coaching sessions and play in the mini tournaments… so you never know Coach Swanson might call on one of the Rockettes to play for the team if one of the guys gets injured :-)

Dear Joe, you're a bit of a slave driver eh!
I have a good reason for not cheering as loud at the last few games… I'm afraid I have had a sore throat. Nothing too serious, I'm just a bit run down after organising the calendar – you guys might think it's easy-peasy producing our charity calendar but I can tell you it takes months of preperation, then a full day of filming to get the girls ready and the perfect photos.
Garthland (our printers) are working extremely hard at this very moment to have it ready for the game on the 3rd of December so remember to bring your pennies!
Come on, help us raise heaps of cash for a really worthwhile cause.

With the double-header fast approaching, between the Belfast Giants and the Edinburgh Capitals, it's time to polish the dust off your old skates and join us for some festive fun.
On Sunday 4th December, we are planning on meeting in Princes Street Gardens for a skate.
Each year Edinburgh hosts one of the largest outdoor ice rinks in their winter wonderland, along with a German market and fun fair. Sample some of the Mulled Wine to keep you warm or try the big wheel ride.

All the Rockettes are on the team because they love to dance and perform – money doesn't come into it!

Hi Fiona, sorry I didn't get the Fashion Show pictures on at the weekend but I wasn't well on Saturday and all day Sunday was taken up with the game. Hopefully have them on this weekend. Also been working on the photos for the Bio pages which we took before the last two games so look for those very soon. Iain.

Hi Fiona (and Claire), glad you're enjoying the fashion show pics. Should have the second half on by the weekend.
Katrina was there, I just didn't get many pictures of her in the first half. She's actually in Picture 13 at the far left (with her arm over her face). There are a few better ones of her from the second half photos though.
