Just wanted to say what a fab site! I'm soooo jealous ur based in Glasgow as I would have loved to try out for the squad. Ever considered expanding up into the Highlands???
I live in Inverness and work as a primary teacher. I've recently started a cheerleading after school club. The demand is huge which is encouraging for a healthier future Scotland. Are you able to provide support e.g. with routine ideas, suppliers etc.? I have danced since I was 3yrs old, and was part of the Scottish ballet '95/'96, and recently got involved and interested in cheering. Any advice would be much appreciated!

To All The Rockettes Who Made The Trip To Newcastle!
Well Done on a terrific job at the BBL Finals on BOTH days. (Well, maybe you need to work on your programme selling tecnique a wee bit more!)
In my opinion it was you girls that took the team through to the final. The support you gave the players from the stand spurred the rest of us Rocks Fans in the crowd on as well as the team. I know because i was sitting in the row in front of you all & it was such a brilliant atmosphere.
It was such a shame you girls had to stand at the back of the court on the Sunday and be a neutral, because in my opinion if you guys were amongst the crowd again on the Sunday we would have beaten the Eagles. But it was great to see you out there performing all the same as it's what you do best.
Just a wee special mention for Carol, your constant shouting at the team & emotion during the semi-final was brilliant, especially when the game got very close in the 4th Qtr. Hearing you say "I can't take much more of this" was pretty funny.
WELL DONE ALL OF YOU!!! & Good Luck for next season.

Hi Stephanie, you need to be at least 18 to try out for the Rockettes. If you're too young just now then you should think about coming along to one of our Dance Workshops to get a taste of what it's like to dance in front a big crowd at a basketall game.

All of the Rockettes have been dancers long before they auditioned. We have tryouts once a year and work very hard to maintain a high standard of technique. We also get our routines from ProDance in America which allows us to creatively display our abilities.
I am glad that your confidence has grown! Keep it up and always dance.

Hi Bill. Glad you like the site. Ours is custom designed rather than being from a template but if you can get a hold of Net Objects Fusion (available sometimes on magazine cover discs) then it comes with a lot of templates to get you started. Hope this helps, Iain.

Glad you guys enjoyed the day at the VUE. It was myself, Allana, Charlie and Amanda who were there. We had a great time, although I was knackered trying to speak on that mic after running the length of the cinema and then dancing.!!! Everyone was so nice and we are looking forward to being part of the day next year too.!! Maybe we'll have time to stay and watch the film too.!!

I'm afraid we aren't able to attend away matches as we have so many other committments, i.e. we dance for Edinburgh Pro-Rugby Team and have lots of promotional and charity appearances too.

I have been dancing for 12 years since I was 7. I'm starting to go out for auditions and was wondering what brands of tights you use. Which brands are most durable and comfortable at the same time?
I found two brands, Capezio & Danskin but are there other brands off the shelf which I can buy like Hanes or Secret etc… Which you would recommend when I can not get regular dancewear?

I was at the Edinburgh Gunners versus Cardiff Blues game with my mate. At the end of the game we went up and started talking to four members of the cheerleading squad. We were talking to them about maybe coming to one of our rugby matches. We are in the U15 Scottish Cup and if we get to the final we play on Murrayfield, so some of our team were thinking of hiring the squad.

i have a question to any of the girls – i am looking to try out next year as it would be honestly a dream come true to become a scottish rockette.
but i don't have much dance experience. i have never done ballet, tap, modern, the only thing i do at the moment is hip hop, some podium and some cheer. i am part of a dance troupe but would be looking to audition for scottish rockettes next year.
is there any point in me auditioning because i don't have as much dance experience as all you girls have, but i can say that i have been dancing for two years now and i am a fast learner and always give 110% and i do love to perform.

A friend of mine works at a summer academy for kids in Glasgow, (this year's has finished) but for next year's academy she is hoping to start up a cheerleading session for the kids. I know it's really early to be askin' 'bout stuff for next year, but if it was to be started would a Rockette or a few Rockettes be able to show face for coaching? just a possibility?

I'm back in America and thought I would say hello. Our college basketball season starts in a few weeks and my 2 friends are amazing and want to know how they could get a trial for the Rocks. They're really good and they could stay with me if they came over. It probably wouldn't be till nest season anyway but just thought I would ask.

Germany sounds like a good laugh, although I'm not up for the cold weather… or the tents… or the sheep… infact I'd have hated it hahaha. Glad you enjoyed yourself though.

well guys a new season almost here now and hopefully we can help bring home some silverwear back to breahead this season.
i was there that sad day in birmingham when the eagles stole our championship for our grasps.
well ladies one thing i can assure of this season is that u can expect a load of support from the barrier boys this year as we want to do our part to lead the team. it's good to see that squad has some new faces but the old ones are lovely too!!!

Thank you for the lovely message re: Sport Relief at Glasgow Green on Saturday! Linzi, Charlie, Hazel and myself throughly enjoyed the day and felt honoured to be asked to take part in such a worthwhile and special event.
I mananged to complete the mile first with two fantastic Army Parachute Regiment boys! Running in hotpants and our white boots was hard going, but with the boys at my side spurring me on, I managed to complete the mile with them. It was a great feeling crossing the finishing line and I couldn't have done it without their support!
Hope you enjoyed the day and look out for us at other events!

Just wanted to thank the Rockettes for giving a positive image of the sport of cheerleading for the past few years. I'm the head coach for Glasgow Dynamite Cheerleaders, run for high-school level youngsters, and have seen cheerleading go from strength to strength in Scotland over the past 4 years.
I believe it is through such well-known teams as the Rockettes bringing cheerleading to the public, showing that is a sport rather than a bit of entertainment. If only they knew how hard you have to practice your stunts, dance routines, jumps and motions to look half good.
We recently competed at the BCA Scottish competition, and it has more than doubled in the past year alone in spectators and entries. Who knows where cheerleading will be in a few years?
Keep up the work, and if you need a youth team for anything – keep us in mind!

Hi Claire, thanks for your interest in the Rockettes.
As far as maximum age, there is NO limit. The girls in the Rockettes are aged between 18 and 33 years old. And ages of recent dancers/cheerleaders in the States have ranged from 18 to 38.
We consider age to be just a number as long as you fit our image – if you have a well-toned physique, a great personality and solid dance ability then you have the credentials to be a Rockette.

Hey guys,
It's Kelly here reporting from Thailand!!! So far we have been travelling for 2 weeks and it's been really good. Tomorrow we are heading through the border to Malaysia.
Done loads of stuff like trekking through the jungle, been on the elephants, stayed with a tribe on top of a moutain etc. I won't bore you with all my stories. Hopefully I will be meeting with Lisa at some point?? Anyways better go now!!! Take care.

hi gurlz jus a wee one. there were some of the rockettes in the glaswegian i think but not sure, or the evening times. also the rocks are also on the bak of the glaswegian 'bout the new head coach. he wants to keep rob, germayne :):) and possible frank and also wants bring in new faces.

Hi Charlie! it's kirk here from ashcraig. because i'm like so into cheerleading, I thought I could start a cheerleading club at school. If i get the go ahead – then that would be fantastic! We could be called "THE ASHCRAIG ANGELS" and our routine could be called (you'll love this) "THE CHARLIE CHEER!" (I bet that made you laugh!) On our sports day it was so easy!
I have a question: Are there any cheerleading groups for people in wheelchairs like myself? I've written a poem about my experiences actually participating in cheerleading – entitled "CHAMPION CHEERLEADING".
Oh! One more question: Where did get the music and can I buy it and how much is it?

Hey everyone… I decided this year to take some time off to make time to concentrate on my make-up career so I didn't attend the second day of tryouts.
I have loved every minute of my time in the squad and hope that I have the opportunity to be back in the squad next year! I hope you like the new girls. I met some of them on the first day of tryouts and they were lovely and very pretty girls… you're gonna love em!! But you all better miss me or I'm gonna be upset!! Hope to see you all at games cuz I will try to be at as many as I can.
