Talk107 Radio Interview – 10 February 2007

Rockettes with Talk107's Stephen Jardine
The Rockettes have become regular guests on Edinburgh radio station Talk107, and were delighted when they were selected as one of breakfast show presenter Stephen Jardine's favourite guests.

The Rockettes had appeared on the show in December last year, where the highlight of the show was helping Stephen save 'Grace' the turkey from being Christmas Dinner! Stephen, who is probably best known as the main face of STV's Scotland Today news programme, was obviously impressed and had invited the Rockettes back to join him on his last ever show.

Didn't manage to catch the show? Well here is second-year veteran Linzi to tell you all about it:

An early morning promo on a Saturday is never favourably anticipated, however when it involves live radio and a free breakfast buffet you can guarantee the Rockettes will turn up.

As previous favourite guests of the Edinburgh radio station Talk107, we were asked to go along to Stephen Jardine's last ever Saturday show. You will probably recognise Stephen as one of the presenters of Scotland Today. See, we Rockettes really do mingle with the stars!

As it was Stephen's last show we had been asked to make it a memorable one and perhaps come up with a wee chant or jingle for Stevie Boy. After much deliberation in the car, and spending way too much time thinking about words that rhymed with coconut (for future reference; butt, mutt, rut) – we did end up scrapping that line – we came up with a very snazzy chant:

Stephen's last breakfast show, We're going to miss you, please don't go.
We love you coz you saved Grace, Oh what a pity about your face.
You're off to do a motoring show, Tell us: 'Was it all about the dough?'
Ok Stephen away ye go, The Rockettes are here to take over your show!!

Told you it was snazzy!

In the studio, Stephen asked what the Rockettes had been doing since the last time we had been in the studio. We mentioned the BBL Cup Final, the cancelled Hogmanay show and all the charity events. We also gave Stephen a charity swimsuit calendar to make up for the 'face' comment in our jingle :-)

Although we must say, the most exciting part of the show was when Stephen repeatedly mentioned a 'handsome man from London' in the studio next door who just happened to be in Edinburgh presenting the Six Nations on BBC.

'Handsome man' then popped in to see us girlies and it turned out to be none other than the very good-looking Irishman, Craig Doyle. We were slightly taken aback by just how good-looking he was – even Kat M was speechless! So when handsome man asked us to make up a chant for him on the spot the pressure was on. We obviously didn't want to let him down. So not only were we on Talk107 in Scotland, but we went out live on Capital FM in London as well! London I tell ye!! If only we hadn't put on those silly fake American accents for the jingle, oh well it was just a bit of fun eh? Sadly we didn't manage to get a photo with handsome man but we made sure he got a 2007 calendar so he didn't forget us.

Needless to say, we certainly won't forget him in a hurry – even if it was first thing on a Saturday and we didn't get to have any breakfast buffet!

Love, Linz x
