ARE THERE ANY AGE REQUIREMENTS?

You must be at least 18 by 25th May 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Please remember to bring Photo ID to the Auditions. As far as maximum age, there is NO limit. Ages of recent dancers/cheerleaders in the States have ranged from 18 to 38.

ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS?

Our uniform demands a toned figure so you should look well proportioned in dancewear. We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements although the Rockettes aim to project an image of health and fitness.

IS BEING A SCOTTISH ROCKETTES DANCER A FULL-TIME JOB?

No, you must hold at least a part-time job or attend college/University.

DO YOU CONSIDER BEING A MOTHER A FULL TIME JOB?

Yes!

WHAT TYPE OF TIME COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED IF CHOSEN FOR THE SCOTTISH ROCKETTES PRO-DANCE TEAM:

TOTAL COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED!!!!

A dancer's schedule can be very busy.

Activities can include:
  • Rehearsals
  • Personal Appearances (Charity & Paid)
  • Travel
  • Fan Mail
  • Children's Camps
  • Performances
  • Interviews/photo shoots
HOW MANY POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

We will be auditioning for 20 dancers for the Rockettes Pro-Dance Team, however management reserves the right to change this number at any time. We will also be auditioning for Rockettes Coaching Staff.

Rockettes Pro-Dance Team: This squad appears at all Rockettes events including all SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks home basketball games, Glasgow Warriors matches as well as promotional and charity work. The squad has 2-3 rehearsals per week and all rehearsals are mandatory. As stated above this squad requires total commitment and candidates who do not feel they can keep to rehearsal, game and promotion schedules should not contemplate auditioning for this squad.

Rockettes Coaching Staff: This position is open to applicants who hold an Associate Certificate in Dance. Please note cheer qualifications will not be considered. Coaches will be offered work within schools, sports centres and social clubs throughout the Central belt and are paid at an extremely attractive hourly rate. These classes may be within school hours, after-school or in the evenings – classes will be allocated based on availability stated on Application Form.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Interested applicants should download and complete the Application Form and bring this with you to the Preliminaries round with a £3.50 non-refundable application processing fee.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO AUDITIONS?

You should wear:
  • Dancewear or Aerobic wear i.e. 2-Piece Dance/Athletic Crop-top and Hot-pant - please wear something close-fitting that shows off your figure.
  • Suggested shoe: Dance shoe you are confidant and comfortable wearing. i.e.: jazz, jazz-sneaker or trainers.

SHOULD I WEAR MAKE-UP?

Yes, colours that compliment you! Think glamorous.

HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY HAIR?

Wear your hair in a style that compliments your features. Make sure your hair does not hide your face.

HOW LONG WILL THE AUDITIONS LAST?
  • Starts at 10am sharp – pre-registration opens at 9am and the day should finish around 5-6pm (dependant upon the number of applicants).
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO AUDITIONS?
  • Photo Identification
  • Extra outfit to wear for judging panel (crop-top & hot-pants as above)
  • Water bottle
  • Snacks
  • Personal items – make-up etc.
WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO AT AUDITIONS?
  • Registration will begin promptly at 10am – DO NOT BE LATE!
  • Photo taken of each contestant.
  • Aerobic warm-up taken by JJB Fitness instructor.
  • Fitness assessment.
  • Technique class.
  • Choreographer will teach a dance combination.
  • Perform the dance combination in groups of 3 for the judges.
  • Judges retire to make squad selections.
  • Successful applicants will be notified at the conclusion of the day.
ARE AUDITIONS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

No. Auditions are closed, therefore no-one can watch you – not even family.

IF I AM NOT SELECTED WILL MY APPLICATION BE KEPT ON FILE?

No. You must re-apply with a new Application each year.

WHEN DO REHEARSALS BEGIN?

Rehearsals will commence on Tuesday 3rd June at 7:30pm and they usually conclude at 10pm. You will be given a full schedule of rehearsals at our first meeting.
